SATA History

Sex Abuse Treatment Alliance was founded in 1996 by a recovering sex offender who realized the need to care for those who have been harmed, for those who did the harming, and for their families and communities. SATA is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Interested participants come from across the United States and include all those wishing to prevent sex abuse through a meaningful, healing therapeutic approach.

 

Facts about Sex Abuse Treatment Alliance

SERVICE AREA: We provide services throughout the United States.

FUNDING: Funding is provided by donations, grants, and private foundations. Sponsorship of our program affiliate organization Sex Offenders Restored through Treatment (SORT), provides funds for the SATA-SORT Newsletter.

STRUCTURE: SATA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that meets quarterly. An Executive Director oversees SATA's daily operations, and also serves as Executive Director for SORT.

Membership in SATA is considered to be persons interested in the goals and programs of the organization, and who make annual financial donations to its operation.
